Dr Kum Cheng Kiong is a renowned surgeon with more than 30 years of experience in advanced surgery. He is a pioneer in key-hole surgery since 1990 with thousands of successful operations. He was an Associate Professor of Surgery in the National University of Singapore and President of the Singapore Chapter of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia.

Cancer Screening

Endoscopy / Colonoscopy

Endoscopy (gastroscopy or colonoscopy) is an outpatient procedure using a small flexible endoscope to examine your esophagus, stomach, part of your duodenum, colon and rectum. You will be sedated during the procedure and should not feel any pain or discomfort

Gallstones/Gallbladder Surgery

We also specialise in removing gallstones and gallbladders using key-hole surgery. Dr Kum has successfully performed hundreds of such operations.

Colon Cancer

Most common cancer in Singapore men and the second most common cancer in Singapore women. Colonoscopy screening is recommended starting at the age of 50 years and every 5-10 years thereafter if the results are normal

Stomach Cancer

Although the incidence of stomach cancer has declined, it remains a common cancer in Singapore. Endoscopy of the stomach (gastroscopy) is the best method of detecting stomach cancers in its early stages.

Laparoscopic Surgery

Also known as 'key-hole' surgery whereby procedures are performed through small incisions. Dr Kum is a pioneer in this field of surgery and has performed thousands of laparoscopic surgeries successfully.

Hernia Surgery

This centre specialises in repairing all types of hernias using key-hole surgery. The most common is a groin hernia. Other hernias treated here include umbilical, incisional, ventral, hiatus and femoral types of hernias.

Thyroid Cancer

There is an increase in the incidence of thyroid cancer. It presents as a lump in the neck. Diagnosis is made with an ultrasound and needle biopsy. Surgery can cure thyroid cancer with more than 90% success.

Liver Diseases

The liver is one of the largest and most important organ in the body. Diseases in the liver can lead to fatigue, loss of weight, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and jaundice (yellow discoloration of the eyes). Ultrasound and blood tests can detect most liver conditions.

Weight Management

Focuses on helping people attain their ideal weight and body fat composition in accordance to their gender and height. A multi-disciplinary customised approach including diet, exercise, medication, gastric balloon and/or key-hole surgery.

Robotic Surgery

Robotic surgery is a modality of surgery using the da Vinci Robotic System. It enables superior visualisation in 3D, 10x magnification and improved dexterity of instruments. This centre pioneered robotic surgery in Singapore in 2004.
